Sing:le- Spiralling-Keane

For some unfathomable reason, one of my football team mates insist that I like Keane, which, during that time is vehemently untrue. Well, yes, I thought 'Somewhere Only We Know' and 'Everybody's Changing' were okay but passable at best. I never gave songs from 'Under The Iron Sea' attention (I can't even remember 'Is It Any Wonder', Grammy Nominee) when it came out and I never really thought of them as the next Coldplay (because Coldplay isn't 'Coldplay' anymore, not that it's a bad thing).

But after stumbling into the band's latest single Spiraling (from their 2008 album 'Perfect Symmetry'), i found myself double taking and actually took time to let the song sift into my system. 'Spiralling' is an awesome single but it is not without flaws, Tim Oxley-Rice sounds a bit like some gay guy screaming 'Did you want to be an icon?' etc. towards the song's bridge and the lyrics aren't that great (we're spiralling/tied up to the ground). But pounding beats, grinding guitars and effects definitely made up for the song's shortcomings.

'Spiralling' hints that Keane wants to expands their music range, trying to veer away from the U2 and Killers comparisons in 'Under The Iron Sea' and judging 'Spiralling' and its hard-licking chops, Keane is going the right way.
